Chord Progressions

Chord Progression Library

A handful of chords gets you thousands of songs — thanks to these go-to progressions. Pick one, understand its Roman numerals, change chords along with the metronome, then use the ♯ ♭ in the player to shift it to a key that suits your voice.

One bar of count-in first, then the chord changes automatically each bar. Get it smooth slowly, then speed up bit by bit; transpose to suit your voice.

These are the four most-used chords on the planet — memorize them and you can back hundreds of songs. In C that's C–G–Am–F, one chord per bar, four beats each. F is the only barre hurdle here — if you can't hold it down yet, get by on the simplified Fmaj7 (just the top four strings) for a while, then switch to the full barre once your fingers get stronger. For rhythm, start with the steady “down, down-up, down, down-up” to lock in the loop, then graduate to the “53231323” fingerpicking pattern for a really tender feel. To lower it for the original singer's range and make it easier on your voice, just clip on a capo to shift the whole thing — you don't change a single chord shape.

Heard in songs like (examples): Love Confession · Actor · Let It Be · I'm Yours · Chengdu

How to use: First read the “Roman numeral ↔ chord” mapping to understand the logic (the numerals stay the same; changing key just shifts everything as a block). Tap “Start play-along” for a one-bar count-in, then it auto-switches chords each bar and you just follow. To change key use the ♯ ♭ buttons, or pair it with the capo helper. To dig into key relationships, visit the circle of fifths.
